Student Matinees

STUDENT MATINEES

Constellation Stage & Screen offers special weekday matinees for specific shows throughout the season as part of our Constellation For Schools program. This program significantly reduces the cost of admission so that school children can attend these performances, making them affordable for students and teachers. To accompany the performances, Constellation Stage & Screen creates education materials for teachers, specifically designed to meet curricular standards for the age group. These study guides are created by Constellation’s Education Committee, which includes local educators and the Monroe County Public Library.

Student Matinee Pricing:
$7.50 per student
$15 per adult/chaperone

Health and Safety Protocols will be announced at least one month prior to the event and will likely reflect current local, county, state, and school district guidelines.

THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST

10AM on Oct 19 & 26, 2022

Location: Waldron Auditorium (122 S Walnut St.)

Estimated Length: 2 hours and 30 minutes, including a 15-minute intermission

Content Advisory: Recommended for high school students.

About the Play:

​​Oscar Wilde’s masterpiece about marriage, morality, and mistaken identity sparkles with dazzling wordplay and unlikely situations. This “trivial comedy for serious people” features two gentlemen, Jack and Algernon, each with a carefully hidden double life. But when Algernon discovers that Jack has been posing as a man named Ernest to escape to the city, he promptly travels to Jack’s country estate to pose as the fictional figure himself! Confusion and hilarity reign as they fall in love with a pair of proper young women and confront the formidable Lady Bracknell in the pursuit of romance and revelry.

About the Play:

Marilla Cuthbert and her brother Matthew are determined to adopt an orphan boy to help them run Green Gables, their farm on beautiful Prince Edward Island. But their well-ordered lives take a surprising and hilarious twist when the boy they hoped for turns out to be a spirited redheaded girl named Anne Shirley, whose wild imagination leads her into countless scrapes and one family’s heart. 

ELF THE MUSICAL

About the Show:

Elf the Musical is the hilarious tale of Buddy, a young orphan child who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported back to the North Pole. Unaware that he is actually human, Buddy’s enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father, discover his true identity, and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas. This modern day Christmas classic is sure to make everyone embrace their inner Elf.  After all… the best way to spread Christmas Cheer is singing loud for all to hear!

DON’T LET THE PIGEON DRIVE THE BUS: THE MUSICAL

About the Show:

Whatever you do, don’t let the Pigeon star in his own musical production! It’s not easy being the Pigeon – you never get to do ANYTHING! But when the Bus Driver has a crisis that threatens to make her passengers (gasp!) late, maybe that wiley bird CAN do something. Featuring an innovative mix of songs, and feathers, Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! The Musical! is sure to get everyone’s wings flapping.
