Summer Camp enrollment is officially open and there is still time to enroll in Spring Classes starting in February and March! Note: All spring classes will be held at the Constellation Studios (411 E 7th St). Summer Camps will be held at various venues, all located conveniently in downtown Bloomington.

Acting Ensemble for Littles: Toy Story Live! (Grades K-2)
Acting Ensemble for Littles: Toy Story Live! is a theater arts class for young, budding performers that builds upon their interest in acting, movement, and self-expression—all while having a blast! Designed especially for Littles (Grades K-2), this class will use a dramatized version of Pixar’s classic Toy Story to create a zany cast of characters while exploring the magic of friendship and the power of imagination. Students will become familiar with the basics of script analysis, stage directions, and storytelling in an interactive and dynamic learning environment. The class will also implement confidence-building theater games and improvisation activities to spark creative thinking for a lifelong love of performing. Students will get to show off their new skills and “reach for the sky” with a final showcase of Toy Story Live! on April 25!

Broadway Kids: Annie In Concert (Grades 5-8)
We got Annie! Constellation’s Broadway Kids: Annie In Concert (Grades 5-8) is a 10-week performance class that gives budding young actors and singers the opportunity to learn and workshop scenes and ensemble numbers from Charles Strouse’s classic and beloved Annie. Under the direction of a seasoned, professional teaching artist and musical director, Debby Jenkins, students will develop the building blocks of stage etiquette, musicianship, musicality, and performance that will highlight storytelling as well as solo and ensemble singing with fun, dynamic musical numbers like “It’s the Hard-Knock Life,” “Tomorrow,” and “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile” in an enriching and supportive musical theater environment. The class will culminate in a concert-style showcase on April 23.
Note: Students should be comfortable singing in front of others. This class will require outside preparation/memorization. Attendance is crucial. If you foresee conflicts, please consider joining us for a future class.

The Broadway Ensemble: Opening Numbers (Ages 18+)
Come explore the ensemble numbers of Broadway in this 10-week performance class for adults! In Constellation’sThe Broadway Ensemble, students will learn and workshop dynamic opening number ensemble songs from classic and contemporary Broadway musicals under the direction of a seasoned, professional coach/teaching artist and musical director. In addition to community-building and making new friends along the way, students will develop skills in stage etiquette, stage presence, musicianship, musicality, and vocal technique as they collaborate to bring musical numbers to life with exciting harmonies and light staging/choreography. The class will culminate in a final performance that showcases the ensemble with ample opportunities for soloists to shine. The Broadway Ensemble is a prerequisite to join Constellation Singers, Constellations Stage & Screen’s in-house musical theater performance group.

Documentary Filmmaking Fundamentals (Ages 18+)
Constellation’s Documentary Filmmaking Fundamentals provides a comprehensive introduction to the art and craft of documentary filmmaking, designed specifically for adult learners with little or no prior experience. Students will explore the entire filmmaking process, from initial concept development to final exhibition. Through a mix of lectures, screenings of classic and contemporary documentaries, practical exercises, and peer feedback, students will gain the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to produce their own short documentary film. Acting on Camera: At the Dinner Table (Ages 18+)
Constellation’s Acting on Camera: At the Dinner Table is a unique seven-week, project-based class designed for adults seeking to hone their on-camera skills through the specific, dynamic lens of classic dinner table scenes in film. From tense negotiations to uproarious family conflicts, these scenes offer a masterclass in subtlety, timing, and presence, providing a focused environment to refine your screen acting technique. Acting Ensemble for Kids: The Secret Garden (Grades 5-6)
Come to our garden! Constellation’s Acting Ensemble for Kids: The Secret Garden (Grades 5-6) is a fast-paced and fun exploration of stage acting that will use an imaginative theatrical adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s beloved and timeless classic, The Secret Garden – an uplifting exploration of the healing and transformative powers of nature, friendship, and positive thinking. Offering a range of roles that vary in size and type, this class is perfect for beginners, as well as acting students with some experience. In addition to strengthening skills in reading fluency, active listening, teamwork, and public speaking, budding actors will focus on building a theatrical ensemble as well as developing individual acting technique, including voice and speech, creative movement, and exploration of world and character. Students will learn and practice the fundamentals of theatrical staging and theater etiquette as they “spring” towards a final showcase of The Secret Garden on May 11! Students will emerge from the class more articulate, confident, and collaborative performers.

The Pixar Players (Grades 5-6)
Step into the boundless imagination of the Pixar universe with Constellation’s The Pixar Players (Grades 5-6), a wildly fun, seven-week improvisation and comedy performance class where students will use the wide world of Pixar as a launchpad for learning core improvisational techniques, developing comedic timing, building confidence, and collaborating to create their own mini-movie. With inspiration from their favorite Pixar characters, quotes, and storylines, students will learn how to think on their feet, create hilarious “mixed-up” scenarios (imagine Woody in the Inside Out control center!), and develop their unique comedic voices in this high-energy, hands-on, “Yes, and…” learning environment. The class culminates in the creation of an original “mixed-up Pixar” comedy short film, capturing their brilliant comedic work on camera!

Improv for Adults: Beyond Beginner (Ages 18+)
Constellation’s Improv for Adults: Beyond Beginner (Session 1) is a fast-paced, highly interactive workshop-style class that reinforces and builds upon improvisational skills and performance techniques. This class will focus primarily on long-form improv, and is open to adults with previous improv experience* who have mastered the fundamentals. Improv is a magical and collaborative art form that is not only fantastically fun, it boosts creativity, develops storytelling ability, enhances listening and communication skills, and builds confidence and resilience. Students will practice their skills in a safe, supportive, “Yes, and” learning environment.

Broadway Kids Junior: Annie In Concert (Grades 3-4)
We got Annie! Playwriting: The Monologue Workshop (Ages 18+)
Constellation’s Playwriting: The Monologue Workshop is an immersive, 6-week exploration of writing compelling and impactful monologues for the stage. Students will learn and practice the fundamentals of playwriting: character development, dramatic tension, and narrative structure. This class is appropriate for both beginners and students with previous writing experience. Musical Theater Playground: A SpongeBob Seussical Musical Showdown (Grades K-2)
Musical Theater Playground: A SpongeBob Seussical Musical Showdown is an introduction to musical theater arts for Littles (Grades K-2) that explores two fantastical, family-friendly blockbuster Broadway musicals – one inspired by a world-famous cartoon sea sponge, and the other a brilliant weaving together of the most famous stories and characters of Dr. Seuss – SpongeBob SquarePants The Musical and Seussical the Musical! Students will practice skills in acting, vocal expression, and movement – all while playing with showstopping music and larger-than-life characters. This fun, supportive, and interactive learning environment will also implement confidence-building theater games and improvisation activities to spark creative thinking, promote active listening, and encourage self-expression. The class will culminate in a “Showdown” mini-showcase on May 9!

Summer Camp: Theater Playground for Littles: A Mythical Creature Quest (Rising Grades 1-3)
Step into a world of magic and wonder with Theater Playground for Littles: A Mythical Creature Quest, an expanded version of Constellation’s Theater Playground program for rising 1st-3rd graders, specifically designed to ignite imaginations and build essential theater skills. Each day, young “questers” will explore legendary realms through enchanting activities like Dragon Dreams, Unicorn Universe, Mermaid Mystery, Phoenix Fantasy, Pegasus Playground, and Fairy Folklore, using these themes as a springboard for learning fundamental performance techniques. Summer Camp: Theater Camp for Kids: The Odyssey (Rising Grades 4-7)
For rising 4th-7th graders, Theater Camp for Kids: The Odyssey offers a hands-on, beginning-to-end experience of being in a play. Experienced professional teaching artists will guide campers through the process of auditioning, casting, table reads, table work, blocking and staging, rehearsing, adding technical elements (costumes, props, wigs, lights, sound), and performance. Join brave Odysseus on a legendary journey home as he outsmarts mighty gods and outruns mythical monsters in this epic, kid-friendly, high-seas adventure! For rising 4th-7th graders, Comedy Camp for Kids: The Zip Zap Zop Zone provides the perfect playground for the creative kid with an active imagination and undeniable funny bone, as well as the more introverted kid who just needs the right environment to be inspired to come out of their shell.
