Open Stages
Supporting the presentation of the community-based arts
Constellation Stage & Screen and the City of Bloomington have partnered in support of the Open Stages program to significantly subsidize the cost of performance space for South Central Indiana-based artists and entities presenting public performances or exhibitions of their artistic work.
The goal of the Open Stages program is to ensure that Constellation’s managed venues are affordable and accessible to all artists and to incentivize the presentation of community-based art. By subsidizing venue-associated costs, the grant allows presenting artists to occupy the spaces more frequently and devote more resources to the work being presented, ensuring that Bloomington’s premiere arts venues are vibrant throughout the year with the highest-quality arts programming.
Applications are open on a rolling basis and may be submitted by any individual or entity (non-profit, for-profit, etc) presenting the eligible work is encouraged to apply.
NOTE:
- Applications are due at least three months prior to the first date of prospective rental.
- An application must be submitted for each production (e.g. play, musical, art installation, etc.), but there is no limit to the number of applications an individual or entity can submit annually.
- Eligible programs must feature the presentation of at least one performance or event open to the general public (free, paid, ticketed, or otherwise).
- Special events (e.g. fundraisers, galas, etc.) that feature art, but are not primary to the program, do not qualify for Open Stages.
