NEWS: Constellation Stage & Screen Announces New Annual Holiday Tradition
For immediate release (Bloomington, IN) – In anticipation of Constellation’s 25/26 Season Announcement, Constellation is excited to announce a major update to its beloved holiday programming. After many memorable seasons at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater, this year’s Family Holiday Musical will take place at the Waldron Arts Center, the home of Constellation Stage & Screen. In addition to this change of venue, Constellation is thrilled to offer not one, but TWO holiday productions this December — bringing even more festive cheer to the local community.
“We’re proud to make the Waldron Arts Center our new home for the holidays,” says Chad Rabinovitz, Artistic Director of Constellation & Screen. “While we will continue to offer a large-scale, family-friendly musical, by producing in our own space, we’re able to bring Bloomington audiences a second show – one that is more geared toward mature audiences.”
A New Home, A New Holiday Tradition
First established in 2006 by Cardinal Stage, the Bloomington holiday show has become an annual tradition for thousands of South-Central Indiana families. Constellation is excited to evolve this flagship event to offer more and varied programming, including, not one, but two live shows at the Waldron.
“We often hear feedback from our Mainstage attendees that they’d like to see more opportunities throughout the season for adult theatergoers. By offering an additional show, we’re able to do just that,” says Chad Rabinovitz. “Whether you attend one show, or both, we’re increasing the number of offerings for our patrons and the number of opportunities for local artists.”
These productions will be complemented by a new-and-improved front of house experience, with festive decor and activities throughout the holiday season. “We wanted to give our community more opportunities to experience the magic of the season, creating a welcoming experience for everyone,” says Managing Director Gabe Gloden.
“We are eager to see how this transition impacts Constellation and the patron experience. This is a two-year experiment; we’ll evaluate it and remain flexible for future seasons to ensure each show is in the most appropriate venue based on its size and anticipated attendance.”
With this transition, Constellation remains committed to providing performance opportunities for children and teens across South Central Indiana with youth ensemble opportunities in its Family Holiday Musical.
