Constellation Stage & Screen will present a play, musical and two films this spring.

“American Fast”

Join Constellation for its production of “American Fast,” a play about college basketball and faith. Basketball superstar Khady Salama finds herself at a crossroads during her senior year when she learns that March Madness coincides with Ramadan. As a Muslim, Salama has promised her devout mother that she’ll fast. When her story goes public, she becomes a role model for young Muslim women, with just one small problem: she’s lying about fasting. Conflict ensues as the tournament unfolds and Salama must learn how to balance her faith, family and game.

“American Fast” is now open, with shows at 2 p.m. every Saturday and 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday until its last show on April 8 at the Ted Jones Playhouse. Ticket prices range from $23-42 and are available on Constellation’s website.

“Midsommar”

Constellation will screen “Midsommar” at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, at Waldron Rose Firebay. Florence Pugh, Will Poulter and Jack Reynor star in this A24 horror film about a group of young adults who travel to attend a fabled midsummer festival in Europe. The seemingly idyllic retreat soon descends into an increasingly violent and doomful competition at the hands of a Pagan cult.

Tickets for “Midsommar” are available in advance for $8 on Constellation’s website and $12 at the door.

“Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! The Musical!”

Enjoy a kid-friendly production from Constellation with “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! The Musical!” Based on a beloved children’s book, the comedic musical tells the story of a pigeon’s attempt to help passengers on a bus arrive at their destination on time when a crisis explodes.

The musical will feature IU Theater students Tucker Ransom and Nikki Strawski as cast members and local elementary school students Sophia Linville and Miriam Spillman as members of the ensemble.

“Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! The Musical!” will premiere at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 28, at Waldron Auditorium. The show will run until May 14, with shows every weekend at 6 p.m. on Fridays, 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturdays and 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Sundays. Ticket prices range from $18-28 and are available on Constellation’s website

“Mamma Mia:” Sing-A-Long

Constellation will screen a sing-a-long version of “Mamma Mia” at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 12, at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater. The smash-hit film tells the story of a soon-to-be bride who invites three of her mother’s previous lovers to her wedding, with the possibility that any of them could be her father. The story takes place in Greece and features the widely-popular music of ABBA.

A fun, pre-show costume contest and dance off will take place — so be sure to dress in your best disco or island-inspired attire. Tickets are available for $12 on Constellation’s website and $15 at the door.
