Overview

The Tony Award-Winning Family Holiday Musical

From the visionary mind of Roald Dahl (author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and James and the Giant Peach) comes the Tony Award-winning Matilda the Musical! Matilda Wormwood is a gifted little girl armed with a sharp mind, a vivid imagination, and a love of books. Misunderstood by her cruel and unloving family, she is thrilled to begin school. Only one problem – the school is run by Miss Trunchbull, the evil headmistress who terrorizes the students with her strict discipline. Matilda soon takes a stand to defend her friends from Trunchbull’s wrath and outwit her unkind parents. Packed with high-energy dance numbers and astonishing stage magic, children and adults alike will be thrilled and delighted by the story of this extraordinary little girl!

Kate Galvin (she/her)
Director

Kate Galvin is thrilled to be working with this incredible team to bring Matilda to Constellation! Her directing work has been seen in recent productions of The Importance of Being Earnest, Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, Ada & the Engine, A Year with Frog & Toad, and Every Brilliant Thing. Kate is happy to be freelancing more these days as a director, casting director and coach, but continues to work for Constellation as Casting Director/Creative Producer. Kate is Barrymore Award-winning director of both musicals and plays, and has a passion for new musical development. Regional directing credits include 11th Hour, Fulton Theater, Pittsburgh CLO, Portland Stage, Walnut Street Theatre, Water Tower Theater and others. She is a graduate of NYU (Vocal Performance – Musical Theater) and Goldsmiths – University of London (Producing for Musical Theater). Brandon Magid (him/him)
Music Director

Brandon Magid is a music educator, music director, and vocal coach and holds a Master of Science in Music Education from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Music and in Theatre from Loyola University Chicago. Credits include Broadway: Godspell; Off-Broadway: City Center Encores!; Regional: Paper Mill Playhouse, American Repertory Theater, Barrington Stage Company, and Goodspeed Musicals. He has worked as a pianist and vocal coach for multiple institutions including New York University, Northwestern University, Broadway Dance Center, and Interlochen Center for the Arts. Currently, he is pursuing his Doctor of Philosophy in Music Education at Indiana University with a minor in choral conducting and specialization in general music methodology.

Lauren Haughton Gillis (she/her)
Choreographer

Lauren Haughton Gillis is a director, choreographer, and Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre at Indiana University Bloomington. She was a musical theatre performer for twenty years, most recently seen on Broadway in Wicked. Lauren has produced, directed, and choreographed shows for Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS all over the US and Canada with the National Touring companies of HamiltonWickedBeautiful: The Carol King Musical, and The Book of Mormon. Lauren currently works internationally as an Associate Choreographer for Virgin Voyages and served as assistant director/choreographer to Tony Award Winner, Graciela Daniele on The Gardens of Anuncia at The Old Globe. Some recent shows she has worked on as a director and/or choreographer include: Fly & PDA (La Jolla Playhouse), Bright Star & The Marvelous Wonderettes (Okoboji Summer Theatre), Godspell (Festival 56), She Loves Me (San Diego Musical Theatre). Noey Krothe (she/her)
Matilda (Team Rebellion)

Noey is thrilled to be performing in Matilda the Musical with Constellation Stage & Screen. Noey made her Constellation debut last year as a member of the youth ensemble in Elf the Musical. She is a student at The Project School and has performed in numerous school productions. Some of her favorite roles include Matilda in Matilda, Jr. the Musical and Mercy O’Reily in Jump “N’ Jive Juliet. She also participates in production classes with Stages Bloomington and some of her favorite roles include the young kangaroo in Seussical the Musical, Jr. and young Anna in Frozen, Jr. She would like to thank her loving and supportive family and extended family, Constellation Stage & Screen, The Davis Academy of Music, Stages Bloomington, and the arts program at The Project School for supporting her performing arts journey so far.

Miriam Spillman
Matilda (Team Revolting)

Miriam Spillman is relieved, after making her debut in last season’s Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, to find that she’s not being permanently typecast in Little Old Lady roles. Outside of Constellation, she’s a part of TheatreWorks, where she acts alongside her sister and bff Corrie. And as a proud bibliophile, she encourages everyone who loves today’s show to go to your library and read the book!

Amy Jo Jackson (they/them)
Miss Trunchbull

Amy Jo is thrilled to be terrifying children for the holidays! Winner of a 2022 Bistro Award for their solo Tennessee Williams cabaret act, The Brass Menagerie. Favorite stage: Fun Home (SpeakEasy Stage), Singin’ in the Rain (Weston), Little Mermaid (Ark Rep), Spamalot (Wolfbane), The Wizard of Oz (Syracuse Stage), Cymbeline (Opera House Arts), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Wellfleet Harbor Actors’ Theater), Cocktail Magique and Seven Sins (Company XIV), Nymph Errant (Prospect Theater Company). Film: Sister Tammy in DICKS: THE MUSICAL (A24). AJJ’s original musical Hatchetation was a 2021 selection at the O’Neill (NMTC). She was a finalist for the 2022 Larson Grant and is the recipient of a 2023 Ensemble Studio Theatre/Sloan Commission. As a voice/text/dialect coach, Amy Jo has worked on many shows, most notably Broadway’s Kinky Boots. BFA Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

Emily Davis (she/her)
Miss Honey

Emily Davis is a process-driven performer, voice teacher, and musician. She loves cross-collaborative work with other artists, developing new work (both musicals and plays), and creating opportunities for other performers. As an actor, her favorite credits include The Baker’s Wife in Sondheim’s Into the Woods (IUST), Olive in 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (ATI), Kate in Calling All Kates (BPP/ATF), and Amy in Sondheim’s Company (IU). She was also recently seen as Hermione in Shakespeare’s Winter’s Tale, Maria in Twelfth Night, Holly in Bowling for Beginners, and Death in Everybody during her time as an MFA student at IU. She’s performed off-broadway, at Lincoln Center, and internationally in Florence, Italy. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from New York University- Steinhardt and an MFA in Acting from Indiana University. She is the co-owner of The Davis Academy of Music here in Bloomington, which she runs with her husband and biggest fan, Craig.

Jaddy Ciucci (they/she)
Mrs. Wormwood

Jaddy is an indianapolis-based actor and has had the honor to perform across the state including Beef and Boards (Grumpy Old Men, Into The Woods), Phoenix Theatre (Holly Fudge, Hand To God), Indy Shakes (As You Like It, Love’s Labor’s Lost), and of course ATI (Mr. Confidential, The Mystery of Edwin Drood). Jaddy studied music and theatre at IU Bloomington where she also performed with Cardinal Stage, the Bloomington Playwrights Project, and the Brown County Playhouse. Jake Stibbe (he/him)
Mr. Wormwood

Jake Stibbe is thrilled to be back in Bloomington, last being seen as Crutchie in Newsies back in the days of Cardinal Stage. Previous professional credits include Bob: A Life in Five Acts, Fly By Night, Alice in Wonderland, Ripcord (Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati), A Christmas Carol, As You Like It (Chesapeake Shakespeare Company), Mankind, The Rocky Horror Picture Show (Iron Crow Theater), Annie (Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati), and The Buddy Holly Story (Hackmatack Playhouse). Lila Parker
Michael Wormwood (Team Rebellion)

Lila Parker is enthusiastic to return to Constellation Stage & Screen after portraying Michael Hobbs in Elf: The Musical last holiday season. Other favorite credits include Anna (Frozen), Horton the Elephant (Seussical: The Musical), and Chip (Beauty and the Beast). Lila has studied solo vocal performance for the past six years, and plays a variety of instruments including trumpet, guitar, ukulele, and piano. When not on the stage, she enjoys writing, playing basketball, drawing, spending time with friends and family, and watching scary movies. Lila would like to thank her family, friends, and the Dream Team for their continuous support and love.

Cooper Tucker
Michael Wormwood (Team Revolting)

Cooper is thrilled to be back for his 4th Cardinal/Constellation musical! He previously performed in Oliver!, Beauty and the Beast, and Newsies. Other roles include The Laramie Project (Jedidiah Schultz), 13 – The Musical (Brett), The Paradox Circus (Henry Gentry), The Hobbit (Gloin), James and the Giant Peach (Earthworm), and The Wizard of Oz, (Munchkin Barrister). “Special thanks to my Mom for my love of singing, my Dad for my love of musical theater, and Kristine & Amanda for all the acting and voice help.” As always, Coop dedicates his performance to big brother Luke, currently serving in the U.S. Air Force.

Mrs. Phelps / Mrs. Wormwood Understudy 

Catherine O’Connor is from Chicago, IL and is a fourth year Theatre Major and Contemporary Dance Minor. She is incredibly excited to be making her Constellation Stage & Screen Debut in Matilda. For IU Theatre: Fun Home (Big Alison), Be More Chill (Christine), Firebringer (Zazzali), Sweeney Todd (The Beadle), Bowling for Beginners (Bernice), Well of Horniness (Doctor/Mickey). She is also a Varsity Dance Ensemblist in the Grammy-nominated Show Choir group The Singing Hoosiers. Yul Carrión (he/him)
Doctor / Escapologist

Yul Carrión is super excited to be returning to Constellation! He is currently based here in Bloomington but was born in Puerto Rico and raised in Florida. This show holds a very dear place in his heart because it was actually the first Broadway show he ever saw, when it was in previews in 2013. He was most recently seen performing at the Waldron theatre performing as the Pigeon in Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus. Other favorite credits include: Holiday Inn (Ensemble/Ted Cover), West Side Story (Pepe), A Chorus Line (Don Kerr), Bring It On (Randall), and Newsies! (Romeo). Laura is thrilled to debut with Constellation Stage & Screen. She is currently a junior B.F.A. Musical Theatre major at IU. For IU Mainstage: Cabaret (Rosie), Something Rotten! (Swing). Jocylon Evans is excited to be making her return to constellation. Favorites roles includes: A Chorus Line (Connie), Elf the Musical (Shawanda/ensemble) and The Color Purple (Olivia/ Ensemble). She is currently a Sophomore BFA Musical theater major at Indiana University! She is thrilled to create art once again with Constellation and with this talented cast!

Lucy Ferguson (she/hers)

Lucy Ferguson is thrilled to be making her Constellation Stage & Screen debut in Matilda! Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Lucy is a second year BFA Musical Theatre major at IU where she is fortunate to learn from the amazing faculty and students. IU credits include Cabaret (Swing, u/s Kost) and Something Rotten (Ensemble). For IU Summer Theatre: Into the Woods (Woodland Creature, u/s Cinderella/Rapunzel). Other past credits include: Chicago (Teen Ensemble) and Legally Blonde (Off-stage singer) at The MUNY, The Sound of Music (Maria), and Little Women (Meg March). Sydney is so excited to be spending her third winter with Constellation Stage & Screen! She is a senior Musical Theatre Major at IU. Katy Plaziak is a third-year, from Milton, Georgia, pursuing a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre degree here at IU. She is thrilled to be a part of Constellation’s Matilda! Some of her past productions include Something Rotten IU (Ensemble), Carrie the Musical IU (Swing), A Chorus Line (Cassie), and others. Katy is deeply thankful for the opportunity to be a part of the cast and team of Matilda and could not do it without the love and support of her IUMT family and her friends and family back home.

Shane Stoltz is a fourth-year B.F.A. Musical Theatre major from Bucks County, PA. Recent performances include, for IU Theatre: Cabaret (Emcee), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Joseph), The Threepenny Opera (Officer Smith), Great Comet (Ensemble), Carrie (Swing/Tommy Understudy), Spring Awakening (Otto). Evan Vaughan is a third year student pursuing a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre at Indiana University. Indiana University credits: Cabaret (Victor/Asst. Justin Tidd is a senior in the B.F.A. Musical Theatre program from Indianapolis, IN making his Constellation Stage & Screen debut. For IUST: Into the Woods (Rapunzel’s Prince). For Indiana University: Cabaret (Male Swing/Ernst Understudy), Something Rotten (Ensemble), Natasha, Pierre… 1812 (Dolokhov), The Winter’s Tale (Stage Manager), Sueño (Assistant Stage Manager). For University Players: Bright Star: Concert Version (Daddy Murphy), Puffs! (Oliver), SLIP! (Stage Manager). Lara Lynn Weaver
Understudy for Trunchbull & Miss Phelps 

Lara Lynn Weaver gave her first performance at age 4, accompanying herself on guitar and singing Amazing Grace for her church. She sings with local chamber choir, Voces Novae, and performs regularly with her musical/life partner, Kevin MacDowell, aka Kid Kazooey. They just released a new recording “Kid Kazooey and the Ballroom Roustabouts, a Bunch of Animals.” An active member of Bloomington’s vibrant arts scene, she has performed many times on the beautiful BCT stage. This is her first experience with Constellation and she is excited to support this production of Matilda!
